Olichen Restaurant

Olichen turned out to be the best meal of the trip to Chile. The menu is genuinely different, built around Chilean ingredients you don't see anywhere else and it's clear a lot of thought has gone into the meals, ingredients and presentation. I started with the pisco sour, which was excellent. For main I had the red curry with rabbit and Chilean pine nuts, served with Mapuche bread - fantastic flavour and large portions. Then the roasted garlic ice cream with pear in a Carménère reduction for dessert - it absolutely works! The owner and staff were warm and welcoming. I'd highly recommend!

Olichen is one of those beautiful restaurants in Valparaiso where you can taste the best of the country. Amazing food, local ingredients, passion and love for what they are serving. 100% recommended! and always ask for what is not in the menu, like guatitas with that beautiful butter mash potato! A must try!!

We went to Valpo for NYE. We stayed at a great boutique hotel - Zerohotel - and they recommended Olichen and got us in at the last minute for dinner on NYE. The menu was fixed and was AMAZING! We started off with a Pisco Sour and then throughout the course were served a bottle of Brut and then a bottle of Camanere with dinner. Very generous for just two of us. That was wonderful but the food stole the show. We had baba ghanoush, abalone - cooked perfectly and so tender - mains were osso buco and roco (a type of fish, I learned). The desserts I can’t even describe but were phenomenal together. The other best part was where the fireworks watching were to occur. On top of the roof! We had so much fun and enjoyed talking to the others in the few groups that were blessed to be included that evening. I highly recommend eating here. It’s intimate, has a great rooftop seating area, ands the food is innovative and very tasty.
