Food is good but not spectacular... Good experience but too pricey
My partner and I visited La Paila around 3:30 pm, looking for a good lunch by the sea. The place is very promising from the moment you arrive: excellent access, convenient parking, and a truly enjoyable view of the rocks and ocean. The ambiance is pleasant, and the waiters were incredibly attentive, always helpful, and the service was very efficient. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the surroundings. I ordered the Chilean sea bass with fries and a juice (the latter was well-made). The disappointment came with the main course: for being on the coast, the fish didn't taste very fresh; the Chilean sea bass seemed to have been frozen and stored for a few days, then thrown into the oil too quickly, which dried it out and removed that lovely natural sheen that fish has when cooked at the right temperature. The result was small, thin pieces with a breading that was more bulky than the fish itself. The fries weren't homemade, but rather frozen, pre-fried chips from an industrial bag, something immediately noticeable in the dish and which detracts from the seafood experience. Therefore, the price was very high for such a weak culinary execution. I went to the restaurant because…
Translated by GoogleThe place is lovely, definitely worth eating there. The flavors are delicious. They could cook the octopus differently so it's not chewy. The interior is very nice. The service is good, but they could improve by clearing empty plates more quickly. Overall, very good.
