This is on the 2nd floor if the archway, it's like a buffet, very good, the people were very nice. Nice bathrooms too.

Simple hostel and cafe housed in the former border control post on the old pass towards Chile. Nowadays there's a tunnel of course but in the old days this pass was the only way to cross the Andes here. If you have a good car (preferably 4x4) and there is now snow or rockslides it's still possible to drive onward to the top of the pass where there's a big statue of Jesus with his arms a spread out, a so called Christo Redentor like the one in Rio de Janeiro (though this one is of course much smaller than the one in Brazil)

Good healthy food, lots of veges. Expect tourist prices though, but still not more expensive compared to main cities.
