Events in Isla Negra
Concerts, markets and festivals across Isla Negra, in the coast and countryside west of Santiago.
What Is On in Isla Negra?
Isla Negra is not an island but a stretch of rocky coast in El Quisco, where Pablo Neruda built the house he loved most and where he and Matilde Urrutia are buried above the sea. Around it runs a string of small beach towns, El Quisco, El Tabo and Algarrobo, full of cabins, seafood restaurants and craft fairs, on the shore Chileans call the Litoral de los Poetas. Below are the upcoming events we know about in Isla Negra.
Frequently Asked Questions
We are still building out our upcoming events coverage of Isla Negra. This page lists only dates still to come, so anything that has passed drops off automatically. Beyond us, Instagram does most of the work in Chile: venues and promoters post line-ups there rather than keeping websites current, and Puntoticket carries the ticketed shows.
Stadium and arena concerts sell out within days of going on sale and football requires a ticket registered to your passport number ahead of time. Bar gigs, neighbourhood markets and street festivals in Isla Negra you can simply turn up to. Theatre and opera need a week or two.
Later than most visitors expect. Concerts rarely begin before 9pm and support acts can push headliners past 11pm. Bars fill from 10pm and clubs barely move before 1am. Markets and daytime festivals are the exception, running from mid morning. Plan your ride home before you go, since late buses are scarce.
Music, dance, markets and exhibitions cross the language barrier without trouble. Theatre and comedy are almost entirely in Spanish, in Isla Negra as in the rest of Chile. International touring acts perform in their own language.
