The house specialty, the broth with conger eel and vegetables was sublime. Just the right amount of spice and heat served in a stone bowl and bubbling when it arrived so stayed hot throughout the eating. Persevere with demolishing the eel it is a delightful experience. Diego was fabulous, the Pinot noir by the glass was a 2020 Chilean delight as well. The art work and rustic garden create a great setting in their courtyard!
We ordered oysters and curry. We got clams instead of oysters and the curry tasted old. When paying the waiter told us these were oysters, in fact, even though it were obviously clams. I felt uneasy in my stomach after the curry. The other food options may have been better, I learnt my lesson to not eat curry in a non-Indian/Thai/Japanese restaurant. The service was good, overall the place has a nice cozy vibe, quite touristy though. The food was quite bad (could be that we just got unlucky). That the waiter lied to us about the clams made me feel scammed. Also because the price is not cheap.
I visited Poesía de Sabor in 2024 on the very last day of my study abroad trip. My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant and were greeted warmly by the chef herself, as soon as we walked in. We sat outside, and were served by her husband and co-owner. We each got the salmon plate with potatoes on the side and it was DELICIOUS. After staying a while and having lovely conversations with our waiter, he brought us an Americano and a shot of espresso on the house, before we left. The kindness of the owners made this experience unforgettable. So much, that I felt I should write this review over a year and a half later. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Valparaiso.
