The Santiago GuideWhere to Stay in Maipo Valley
Hotels, apartments and hostels across Maipo Valley, in Wine Country.
Where Should You Stay in Maipo Valley?
The Maipo Valley begins on Santiago's southern edge and is the historic heartland of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. Its warm days and cool mountain nights produce some of the country's most celebrated red wines, with famous estates a short drive from the city for tours and tastings. Below are the hotels, apartments and hostels we recommend in Maipo Valley.
Frequently Asked Questions
We currently list 13 places to stay in Maipo Valley. Lodges and cabins out in Wine Country are priced by season rather than by star rating, and rates climb steeply at peak times. Many include meals, because there is often nowhere else to eat nearby, so compare the full package rather than the room rate alone.
No. Foreign visitors paying in US dollars or with a foreign card are exempt from the 19 percent IVA on accommodation anywhere in Chile, including Maipo Valley. Show your passport and the tourist card you were given on arrival at check-in, and ask for the exempt rate directly, because quoted prices sometimes include the tax.
Not in the way a city neighbourhood is. There is no Metro out here, and reaching Maipo Valley means a drive, a booked transfer or a tour, typically forty five minutes to two hours from central Santiago. Staying out here makes sense when the mountains or the vineyards are the point of the trip rather than the city.
As far ahead as you can for ski season between June and September, when the mountain lodges fill months in advance, and for the March and April grape harvest in the wine valleys. Midweek is quieter and cheaper than weekends almost year round in Maipo Valley, and shoulder season can be very good value.
