The Santiago GuideWhere to Stay in Recoleta
Hotels, apartments and hostels across Recoleta, in Food & Nightlife.
Where Should You Stay in Recoleta?
Recoleta is the city's most appetising comuna, running north from the Mapocho to take in the produce halls of La Vega Central and the Korean and Middle Eastern kitchens of Patronato. It also holds the Cementerio General and the northern half of Bellavista, making it equally good for a morning market crawl and a long night out. Below are the hotels, apartments and hostels we recommend in Recoleta.
Frequently Asked Questions
We currently list 11 places to stay in Recoleta. Across Santiago, hostel dorms run roughly 15,000 to 25,000 CLP a night, mid-range hotel rooms 80,000 to 180,000 CLP, and the luxury end upwards of 250,000 CLP. Rates in Food & Nightlife sit at the higher or lower end of that range depending on the neighbourhood.
No. Foreign visitors paying in US dollars or with a foreign card are exempt from the 19 percent IVA on hotel rooms anywhere in Chile, including Recoleta. Show your passport and the tourist card you were given on arrival at check-in, and ask for the exempt rate directly, because quoted prices sometimes include the tax.
Most of Food & Nightlife is well served by the Metro, and a Bip! card covers Metro and bus on one fare with free transfers inside two hours. Staying in Recoleta puts the center within roughly half an hour. The Metro stops running around 11pm, so budget for a ride app if you plan late nights.
Book well ahead for mid September, when Fiestas Patrias fills the city, for March during Lollapalooza and the wine harvest, and through the December to February summer holidays. Ski season from June to September tightens supply in the eastern neighbourhoods. May and early June are the quietest and cheapest weeks in Recoleta.
