Frequently Asked Questions

We currently list 3 attractions and activities in Pomaire. Allow at least a full day once travel is counted, since the journey from Santiago takes up a good part of it. A village can be covered in a morning, but the larger towns in the coast and countryside west of Santiago reward a night or two at an easier pace.

Intercity buses leave from Santiago's terminals, mainly Terminal Alameda, Pajaritos and San Borja, and take roughly one to two hours depending on where you are going. Driving takes about as long on the toll highways west of the city. Tickets are sold at the terminal, and on summer and holiday weekends it is worth buying them a day ahead.

Once you arrive, mostly yes. The center of Pomaire is best explored on foot, and local buses and colectivos cover anything further out. Streets can be steep and uneven in places, particularly on hillsides, so wear proper shoes.

January and February are peak season, when Chilean families head for the coast and the countryside and weekends get busy. Spring and autumn weekdays are the quietest and most comfortable time to visit. On the coast, morning cloud often burns off by midday, and the Pacific stays cold all year, even at the height of summer.
