The Santiago GuideFarellones Day Trip: Snow Without Skiing
The mountain village closest to the city
What to See and Do in Farellones
The mountain village closest to the city
Farellones is the village the other Tres Valles resorts sit above, and the easiest snow to reach from Santiago. It is the best of the mountain destinations if you are not skiing: the Parque de Nieve does sledging and snow play, the restaurants have long valley views, and in summer the same road opens up hiking and mountain biking.
How do you get to Farellones from Santiago?
- Travel time
- About 1 hour 15 minutes each way
- Distance
- 50 km northeast of Santiago, at 2,400 m
- Best season
- June to September for snow, December to March for hiking and biking
- How long to allow
- Half to full day, 5 to 8 hours
Getting there
The first village on Camino a Farellones, and the simplest of the Tres Valles to drive. Shuttles and colectivos run from Las Condes in winter, and in summer no chains are needed.
